Typically 40,000 to 60,000 km depending on the compound, your driving style, and how well they're maintained. Aggressive driving and skipped alignment can cut that in half.

What does the side-wall code (e.g. 205/55R16) mean?

205 is the width in mm. 55 is the aspect ratio (sidewall as % of width). R means radial construction. 16 is the rim diameter in inches. Bring your old tyre or vehicle handbook if you're unsure.

Can a punctured tyre be repaired?

If the puncture is in the tread area and smaller than 6mm, yes - with a proper internal mushroom plug. Sidewall damage and large punctures require replacement.
